Advices to get a job on crisis period
Labels: Anita Borg Institute, Getting a JobAfter 2 months of being a housewife (since I married on august 2009) I have a job!
A lot of people told me that I'm very lucky because on crisis period is hard to have a job. However I knew that it was going to be difficult but not impossible. Tomorrow is my job first day at a multinational company doing IT support. I'm very excited. In my experience what I could advice to the people that is searching for a job on crisis period is be patient, I know that almost everyone that knows that you're looking for a job tell you that. On my situation that was the key of success, first of all I was very enthusiastic posting my resume in different job posting websites (The one that worked better for me was www.careerbuilder.com, I really recommend this website, they don't send a lot of spam and if you know how to use the alerts you can have very good matches and stay in contact with the recruiters or different staffing firms)
A lot of job posting websites also e-mail me telling that my resume needs to be redesigned, but I only get the free advices because since I was unemployed I didn't have money to pay around 70 dlls. per revision or more. Why they don't understand that? Also they didn't know that My resume was revised by a Microsoft recruiter at Grace Hopper Conference on 2008 and she give me a list of advices that help me more to make an impressive resume.
Keep Trying!!
